Using Claude (having transitioned from ChatGPT), I instructed the system to develop an app that would retrieve card information from an API, generate QR codes, and format everything into printable card sheets. The initial output was surprisingly functional. Despite attempts to refine through additional prompts, meaningful progress proved elusive. I ultimately completed the project manually, progressively replacing AI-generated code through successive iterations. The final product contained minimal machine-generated content, leaving me questioning whether the AI assistance had genuinely accelerated the process or merely created the illusion of productivity. While coding assistants have advanced significantly since that experiment, I continually ponder their actual utility in development workflows.
